About
I'm Steven James Ferris, Leadership Coach, Bestselling Author and Inspirational Speaker.
I'm a proud husband and father of 2, and when I'm not with my family
I love helping business leaders and entrepreneurs navigate change with courage and authenticity.
I've been a military and business leader for the past 18 years; as a Royal Air Force officer,
leading high performance teams in support of the UK airborne forces community,
and in business as a senior leader working in FTSE top 50 companies.

It struck me during this time how highly experienced people can take their eye off the ball when
faced with big people and business affecting changes and I knew that
I could play a part in overcoming these challenges.
As a Fellow of The Chartered Management Institute I have been awarded a
PhD level qualification in Strategic Leadership from Alliance Manchester Business School,
certified to Master's level in Executive Coaching and Mentoring via Bristol Business School (UWE),
and have a bachelor's degree in Education Studies from the University of Exeter.

Navigate the Path Ahead.
Introducing SJF Coaching
Leadership. Re-Inspired.
Mental Resilience
With extensive experience leading, managing and coaching high performance teams in big corporate and the British military, I also have personal lived experience of overcoming and helping others overcome adversity such as: serious injury via long term disciplined (and painful!) physical rehabilitation, stress related anxiety, insomnia, relationship problems and health issues. I therefore understand the importance of a leader's physical and mental resilience, and the impact this has on the performance of your team.
Assertiveness
It is one thing to be confident in one's own abilities,
but it's knowing how to apply this and when to act that counts.
My first rule in life is back yourself; if you don't, how do you expect anyone else to?
It's a mantra that I've applied my entire professional career.
It's been equally as important a mindset in the board room dealing with CEOs from FTSE top 50 companies as jumping from the tail ramp of a military jet aircraft at 25,000ft.
If you are experiencing a 'failure to launch' and struggling to make the changes
you know are required in your career or business, I can help you.
Empathy in Leadership
The 'magnetic north' of my professional moral compass has always pointed
towards an unwritten yet indelible duty of care for the people I lead.
To be authentic is to be vulnerable and I have worked with a
lot of leaders who struggle with both.
If you are at odds with a people problem, or want to better understand your team
please get in touch and let me help you navigate the path ahead.
